Dog Areas in Castaic

3 Eateries

Castaic, California originally got its name from a Native American word (in case you couldn't already tell!) which ruffly translates to "eyes". This quaint unincorporated community is home to a few Fido-friendly activities.

If you're looking to enjoy a meal with your canine friend, this community has a restaurant that is dog-friendly. Sam’s BBQ & Grill at Castaic Truck Stop has a casual atmosphere and serves a variety of foods. Your furry friend is welcome to join you at one of the outdoor tables. Just remember to bring a leash!

You'll also find a specialty coffee house here that welcomes your best fur-iend. It’s a Grind Coffee House serves gourmet drinks and allows you to enjoy them while Fido lounges at your feet. They have about ten outdoor tables and chairs set up for you to enjoy your beverage with your pup. Something to keep in mind is that there's no table service here, so you will have to tie your pooch up outside while you go in and order.

Castaic, California does not have a lot of other amenities for dogs, but you will find more activities and restaurants just a short drive away.

The small town of Sylmar, just 19 miles from Castaic, is home to the Mission City Bike Trail, which is also known as the San Fernando Road Bike Path.  This trail is a nice and easy hike for you and your pooch. It is 5.7 miles long and is part of the Rails-To-Trails Conservancy program. This program takes old rail lines and turns them into Fido-friendly hiking trails. The surface of the trail is paved, so you will need to be careful on hot days so your pup's paws don't get too hot. There are some trees along this trail for shade, but you will need to pack water and supplies for cleaning up after your pooch. Grab your hiking shoes and your pup’s leash and see how far you can get on this trail!
