The quiet suburb of Centereach, New York is known for being a family-friendly place. It may not have a lot going on, but the hamlet is close-knit. A quick stop at any of the three vets in the borough will show you how the pets are loved and cared for.

Although it's a quaint place, Centereach has also been the home of a few famous folks! Don Heck, co-creator of Iron Man, was born in NYC, but lived this quiet hamlet in his adult years. Thea Trinidad, a wrestler perhaps better known as "Rosita", also called Centereach home.

Your pup probably won't care about the hamlet's esteemed residents, though. Luckily, Centereach knows how to cater to its canines! Centereach Park is a small park, but is still a barktastic place for you and your dog to have a great time. You can walk the paved walkway that circles the park, or let your kiddos play for a little while. There is always something to see, bark at, and play with here!

Percy B. Raynor Memorial Park is a nice little park that features a good walk to Lake Ronkonkoma. The area is a safe place to walk, even during the evening hours. There is a playground, picnic area, and grassy meadow to enjoy when you get tired of walking.

Centereach is a furrific place for pups and their parents to live or visit!

Smithtown, New York is about five miles from Centereach. This is where you will find Stump Pond Loop Trail. The trail itself is only about 4.5 miles. The average time to walk it is about two hours or so. This quiet leads around the Nissequogue River and through some wooded areas. You do have to watch for horses along the trail, but other than that, it's a fairly calm place to take Fido for walkies. You will need to keep your dog on his leash and make sure that you bring lots of water, since there are no amenities available along the way.

Bills Richards Memorial Park is located in less than 8 miles from Centereach. It is a quiet oasis in the heart of the busy city, which makes it the perfect getaway spot to walk your dog. You will have to register with the neighborhood before playing here, so don't forget to bring proof of current vaccinations. You will also have to provide proof of residency or an identification card, even if you are from out of state. However, there is no fee to come and explore! Perhaps the reason it is such a perfect place is because of the all the requirements put in place to keep it that way.

Indian food may be an acquired taste, but when you try The Clay Oven in Smithtown, you'll fall head over heels for this flavorful cuisine! Start with the make-your-own sampler. You choose your meats, veggies, and even sauces. You can even go vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free. The best part is Fido can join you for a meal at one of the two outdoor tables. They do fill up fast on the weekends, so make sure to call ahead. Bring a leash with you. If you do want to order for your dog, just let the staff know to hold off on the spices. Bone Appetit!
