Dog Areas in Chamberino

New Mexico brings a lot of things to mind. You might think of beautiful art, deserts, or, if you have a wild imagination, aliens and UFOs. Some people simply think the state is full of crawling critters in the desert. However, that is definitely not all that New Mexico has to offer!

Although Chamberino is a small town with less than a thousand inhabitants, there is still plenty to see and do with your pooch. The community of Chamberino is surrounded not only by many deserts but also by many parks. This community is made for someone who likes to spend time outdoors. It is especially great when you have a pooch because the weather never gets too cold to spend some time outdoors hiking or playing. You and your pup will never run out of things to do outdoors, keeping you both fit.

If you ever get bored in nature, you can always head to a major city nearby, such as El Paso. Spend some time with your pup exploring the city, eating good food, shopping, or simply walking around. El Paso has plenty of festivals for humans and dogs where you both can have a pawtastic time.

Although Franklin Mountains State Park is near El Paso, the half-hour drive to the park is well worth it. This gigantic park is almost 25,000 acres in size. It has a variety of terrain, including deserts, mountains, and picnic grounds. You have an abundance of area you and your pooch can explore -- more than you will ever be able to explore, in fact! Plus, the park is a wonderful place to see some wildlife, such as lizards, iguanas and many other species. Just make sure you keep your pooch on a leash and you have plenty of supplies to stay safe and hydrated.

Labeled as an "escape" by New Mexico residents, Organ Mountain National Recreational Area is a little less than an hour away from Chamberino. It is a large recreational area with desert terrain, plenty of wildlife, and scenic views. Many New Mexico residents sneak away to the park to spend time alone in the wilderness. Your pooch will love the open space! Just make sure you take your own supplies, as the park does not have any amenities. Since the park is so incredibly large, you may want to take camping equipment and spend the weekend. Don't forget the doggie toys!

Although some destinations near Chamberino look close on a map, they are a lot further due to the terrain of the area. Approximately two to three hours away from Chamberino, you will find two large parks: San Andres National Wildlife Refuge and White Sands National Refuge. The distance is why many people decide to spend the entire weekend at the parks. You won't be the only one having a great time! Your pooch will love the bright sun, open space, and crawling critters. Just make sure you take plenty of supplies, such as dog toys, water and proper hiking boots.

If you drive forty-five minutes north to Las Cruces, you can take your pooch to one of the oddest art installations you will ever see. Take your pooch to see the Recycled Roadrunner Sculpture. This sculpture is created completely out of recycled materials such as old shoes and electronics. Plus, the sculpture overlooks a vast part of the desert, making it a great place to sit, relax and enjoy the view. Just make sure you take a leash with you, as the park is not an off-leash dog park and is often full of people. Your pooch will definitely sniff out some new friends here!

Your dog doesn't always need a dog park to have a good time! Take your pup to Florida Mountains Wilderness Study Area. This park is nearly two hours away from Chamberino, but definitely worth the trip. Florida Mountains Wilderness Study Area is one of the most peaceful parks in the area, and is the best spot for you and your pup to get some peace and quiet away from the bustling city. It is not a dog park, so you will need to take a leash with you. Also, make sure you take plenty of water and snacks if you plan on hiking.
