Chanhassen is located about 20 miles southwest of Minneapolis. This pawtastic suburban community features five community/regional parks and 90 miles of trails. If you need professional services for your canine, you'll be able to find a veterinarian in town.

There's a furiffic trail that passes through Chanhassen. Pick up the Minnesota River Bluffs LRT Regional Trail off Great Plains Blvd. This crushed stone Rails-to-Trails pathway heads towards Chaska and Carver Bluffs. Enjoy a hike through area woods and wetlands with your special pal.

Take your pup for a hike around Rice Marsh Lake. Head to the parking lot off Erin Bay to connect with the paved pathway that loops around the wetland area. Dogs can join you on the trail, provided you pick up their waste and you keep them on a leash.

Head about six miles west of town to Carver Park Reserve Off-Leash Area. This 27-acre facility includes separate areas for small and large dogs. You'll need to obtain a day or annual pass by providing proof of vaccinations. Bring water and waste bags when you come.

Walk down the road past wooded yards with your pup in this area. You can also head over to Lake Minnewashta Regional Park to let your special pal get some exercise and social time with other canines. There's an off-leash dog run here where your furry pal can play with other furry friends. Dogs need to be licensed and vaccinated, and you'll need an annual or daily vehicle pass for the park to use the facility.

There are peaceful streets and some green space in this area where you and your pup can enjoy a walk together. For an extended hike, take the trail that starts off Barbara Court. This pathway heads north through woods and wetlands, then loops around the shore of Lake Susan. You're permitted to bring dogs with you on this pathway as long as you keep them on a leash that's no longer than six feet and you pick up any droppings. Make sure to bring water with you for your outing.
