Just off 850 is the Chris Greene Lake Park, a park that, like it’s name indicates, is centered around a large lake! There’s a dock and beautiful paved paths to walk while you admire the shimmering surface of the waters. Located in this park is also a fenced in dog park for dogs to run around off leash. There’s water access for swimming to help cool off in those hotter months and plenty of room to roam.

Woolen Mills
Woolen Mills is a lovely place that’s ideal for dogs and people alike. On the eastern side of this neighborhood is Riverview Park, a gorgeous area that runs right up alongside the Rivanna River. Numerous trails run through this park, including the Rivanna Trail Off Leash Area that runs up alongside the river. This trail welcomes off leash dogs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at designated trail portions. The areas aren’t fenced, so be sure your pup is under vocal command at all times. For a smaller local area, Meade Park sits at the western edge of the neighborhood and is a tidy place with enough room to explore.

For a place with tons to do, Locust Grove is an ideal choice. This neighborhood is home to Pen Park, a large natural area that’s covered with scenic walking trails. Trees shade the majority of the paths to keep the hot sun off your back, and the trails start with disposable bags so you can pick up after your pup along the way. Remember to keep your pup leashed, as the area is unfenced and a popular home to a small variety of wildlife.
