Churubusco, Indiana is a small community with a big history. From the moment the Mastodon skeleton was found at Blue Lake in 1962, to the modern-day excitement of the opening of the History Museum, there is always something to learn about here. Bring your dog and come take a walk through the town to learn why the residents chose this spot as their home. The locals here are friendly, pawticularly to pups! Though the town is small, there's certainly room for a vet clinic to take care of the canine citizens.

Churubusco City Park has lots of amenities that make it fun for the entire family, besides being the official meeting place for the local Boy Scouts. It is also the pawfect place to come walk your dog! The fourteen-acre wooded area has mulched trails so that you can take a walk while watching the wildlife and enjoying the marsh area safely. There are several restrooms and places to get water. Just keep your pup on a leash. Your not-so-furry children will love the playgrounds, and you can sit back and relax on a shaded bench while you watch your pack play.

Churubusco -- affectionately dubbed "Busco" by the residents -- might not have any dog parks or dog-friendly restaurants, but it does have plenty of small-town charm and quirky history for you and Fido to explore!

Fort Wayne is around fifteen miles from Churubusco. Fox Island County Park has over 600 acres for you to roam and explore. There are even two doggie beaches where you can let your dog off of her leash so that she can splash and play in the water. There are no fenced-in areas, so you will want to make sure that your pup is able to follow voice commands before you let her go. There are restrooms and water fountains, but you will want to have a bowl to give your dog some water. You will need a leash to walk the trails.

Shoaff Park South is the beginning of the Rivergreenway Trail system. This trail system interconnects several city parks across three cities. You'll walk through the historic areas, parks, and other green spaces. There are playgrounds, restrooms, benches, and water fountains along the trail. You will need a leash for your dog. You will also want to bring your own doggie waste bags with you as well. The best part of the trail system is that it follows the path of the original rail line. That means that, as you walk, you will see the same views, with some modern improvements, that the original rail passengers would have seen!
