Clermont, Florida, has one dog park: Lake Hiawatha Park, which is located on North 12th Street. Lake Hiawatha Park is a large, fenced-in area that has benches, a dog cleaning station, a doggie fountain, shade, and waste bags. This dog park does not have separate areas for large and small dogs, so owners who prefer a park with separate areas should not visit this park.

West Orange Dog Park is located on Marshall Farms Road in Winter Garden, which is just a quick drive away from Clermont. West Orange is known for its abundance of shade, which is wonderful on hot days. It also has several benches, a doggie playground, and water bowls. The unique thing about West Orange Dog Park is that there is no grass, only mulch, which is a bit messier than grass, so a bath may be in order for Fido at the end of the day.

Also located in Winter Garden is Independence Dog Park on New Independence Parkway. Independence Dog Park is nestled within Independence Park, which has a playground and skate park. The dog park is completely fenced-in, and, in case you weren’t thrilled about the mulchy ground at West Orange Dog Park, has grass everywhere. Your dog can run leash-free without the fear of getting splinters!

Lake Hiawatha Park has everything that you and your furry friend could want in a dog park. Fido will enjoy digging in the dirt while you relax on a bench in the shade.  There are plenty of water fountains so you won't have to worry about getting thirsty on the dog days of Floridian summer. Bring your pup’s favorite toys and play a game of fetch in either one of the two enclosed areas. It is the perfect place to let your pal off his leash so he can run free for a while. Just think of all the new fur friends he’ll make at this park.

Waterfront Park is another great place right here in Clermont to spend the day with your canine companion. It offers beach front trails that have clean up stations along the way. You can bring a picnic and eat lunch with Fido at the tables. There is also plenty of room to play frisbee or catch. When you are tired of running and playing, you can sit and relax at one of the pawfect sitting areas. You will need to bring Fido's leash to enjoy this trail, but it is well worth the views. Come spend an hour or the entire day!

Rails to Trails has focused its energy on South Lake Trail, also known as Lake Apopka Trail. Here you will find a historic trail system that has been retained to reflect the nature around it. Don't forget to bring a leash so you can enjoy the fresh air safely as you walk this former rail-trail. Your furry friend will love the wide open areas while you will enjoy the scenic views. Bring plenty of water with you. Help Fido hunt for branches along the trail -- just don't let him chase after any squirrels.

Hop in the car and head 26 miles down to Orlando for a fun getaway. Here you will find. Dr. Phillips Dog Park. It is quite the bone to dig up. This park features a doggy pool, tons of room to run, water fountains, and two areas for your humans to let you off of your leash. When your pal is good and dog gone muddy, there is even a dog bath area that is just the right size. If that isn’t enough, there are cleaning stations set up to get your dog squeaky clean before getting back in the car. Muddy paw prints are cute, just not on your car seats.

If you are looking for an adventure, take a 25 mile trip from Clermont to Apopka, where you will find Doctor’s Dog Park. The best thing about this dog park is that there is a ton of real grass to run and play in. Both the big dog area and the little dog area are generously sized so that there is a lot of room to run and play quite happily. When you are finished playing Fido can enjoy a doggie shower before you get in the car. Even humans can relax and unwind, since there is plenty of shade and benches where you can watch your best pal play.
