Some 20-mile distance southwest from Baltimore, Maryland, lies the planned community of Columbia, Maryland. Dog owners looking for a challenge will find it in the 20 mile Patuxent Branch Trail system that takes hikers through the rolling hills of Howard County and alongside the Patuxent River, The trail covers a wide variety of landscapes and historical sites.
