Home to three well regarded and community favored institutions of higher education, Conway, Arkansas is often called "The City of Colleges." As one of the fastest-growing places in the country, Conway is also home to numerous pet-friendly attractions, including parks, trails, and events. Many of these places were made possible because of how much Conway residents love their pets!

The Conway Dog Park opened in 2015, after a long struggle to receive funding. The city of Conway actually won the nationwide PetSafe "Bark for Your Park" contest after dedicated citizens voted daily for three months online. Winning provided half the funds for the park, and the city pledged the other half.

Located behind the Don Owen Sports Complex, the completed Conway Dog Park uses two separated fenced-in areas to give local pooches a chance to play and socialize. Amenities like benches, doggie water fountains, and shade trees are abundant.

Trails in the area include the Tollantusky Trail. Don't be fooled by the long name - this short, 1.5-mile loop is easily accessible from town. Featuring scenic views of the Arkansas River, this easy path is perfect for a relaxing stroll with your four-legged companion. Need something more challenging? The moderate 3-mile Huckleberry Trail loops around Lake Bennett. It boasts a startling array of local foliage, including stunning wildflowers, sugar maples, and dogwoods.

If you’re visiting Conway, chances are you’ll make your way to Little Rock at some point. No need to leave Fido at home -- take him along for the ride and enjoy a day of play at Rebsaman Park. It stands out as a very well-cared-for area with clearly marked trails, plenty of benches for you to rest, and is even well-lit in the evening. Let your pup off the leash in the dog run so he can enjoy chasing the squirrels and making some new furr-ends. The dog run is open to dogs both big and small. However, don’t forget to leash him back up afterward, since the dog run is the only off-leash area of the park. Before you leave, take a moment to pause by the lake.

There are many shade trees to rest under when you need a break from all the new smells, or to relax with a good book.  The only downside is that the park does not offer benches for the humans. Otherwise, the two full acres are a great way to spend the afternoon chasing balls, digging holes, and enjoying the fresh air and the sunshine.
