There is a series of rail trails spanning America built from former railway lines that have been transformed into walking trails, and Coraopolis has its very own portion of the trail known as the Montour Trail, part of the Great Allegheny Passage. This 46-mile portion of the trail can be accessed through south Coraopolis, where it follows the former Montour Railroad which was first constructed in 1877.
