Just west of Pittsburgh is the borough of Coraopolis, where almost 6,000 people call home. It's known for its elegant old homes, steep hills, and brick streets that are ideal for exploring on foot with your pup by your side. While Pittsburgh and its many veterinary offices are only about a 20-minute drive from Coraopolis, there are also a handful of vets within Coraopolis to keep your beloved pet in tip-top health.

After a long day of walking the hilly streets of Coraopolis when it's time to grab a bite, pop into Kip's Ice Cream. Kip's was named after a sweet German Shepherd, and much of the shop is dog-themed, so you and your pet will feel right at home. You can even bring in a picture of your dog that they'll post on their bulletin board, and it'll fit right in with all of the other dog pictures, art, and sculptures around the shop. Not only do they serve excellent homemade ice cream and other sweet treats, but they also serve pup cups so your dog can have a treat, too. Whether you live in Coraopolis or you're just visiting, you'll quickly realize that it's a very pet-friendly place to be that both you and Spot will love!

There is a series of rail trails spanning America built from former railway lines that have been transformed into walking trails, and Coraopolis has its very own portion of the trail known as the Montour Trail, part of the Great Allegheny Passage. This 46-mile portion of the trail can be accessed through south Coraopolis, where it follows the former Montour Railroad which was first constructed in 1877. Most of this trail is paved, and you'll come across several other dog walkers taking in the scenery, including the creek that runs alongside much of the trail and plenty of pretty flowers and plants to stop and sniff.
