Lower Bidwell Park
Many parts of Corning’s neighboring city of Chico could be called a pup’s paradise, but the furrific Bidwell Park really takes the (dog’s) biscuit! The 3,000-acre municipal park is a true gem and welcomes wagging tails off-leash between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the lower part of the park, and at all times in the less developed upper part. You and your buddy can play in the long grass, or take a nice stroll along Big Chico Creek. Go in the morning and you two can breakfast at Beatniks! This seriously cool cafe serves up a great Eggs Benedict and caters to canines outside.24

There’s enough room here for your pup to leap about to their heart’s content, and there’s a walking trail around the inner perimeter of the dog run so you can get some exercise while your pooch is at play. The river walk is simply gorgeous and is bordered by lush green grasses and tall, mature trees. Your furry friend is welcome as long as they’re leashed, but remember to bring your own bags and water!
