Covington is a small, leafy township in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The county was originally settled by immigrants from New England and the western part of New York, so it was said to have resembled upstate New York more than Pennsylvania.

Covington and its surrounding areas are rich with natural beauty. With seven lakes and thousands of acres of state forest land throughout the county, there’s no end to the number of things for you and your four-legged friend to see and do!

If you’re planning on spending some time exploring Covington and its environs, then you have a number of pet-friendly options. Tanglewood Camping RV Park in Covington has cabins, spacious RV spaces and secluded campsites, and lots of activities like baseball and volleyball. The park also has a 5-acre spring-fed lake where guests can go swimming, and hiking trails for you and the pooch to explore. Another accommodation option is the Comfort Inn in nearby Mansfield, PA, that welcomes two pets of any size for an additional fee of $25 per pet, per night.

Whatever your interests, you’re sure to find plenty to keep you and the pooch active in Covington and its surrounding areas!

The Lambs Creek Hike and Bike Trail in Tioga, PA, takes you on a ramble through the serene and beautiful Pennsylvania countryside. You and the pooch can get away from the world and lose yourselves in the thick growth of trees and brambles, as woodchucks and rabbits scamper across the trail. The trail’s colours change with the seasons: yellow-green in the springtime; white and purple in the summer; and brilliant red and orange in the autumn. The Lambs Creek Trail is almost entirely flat with gentle curves, and the farther from town you go, the quieter the trail becomes.

The Pine Creek Rail Trail is a disused railway trail in the Appalachian Mountains of north-central Pennsylvania. A 2001 article in USA Today named the 65-mile-long trail one of "10 great places to take a bike tour" in the world. The trail is a relatively easy one for beginners, with only gentle grades. There is a large amount of wildlife in the area, many of which can be seen from the trails. These include hawks, bald eagles, and other large birds, Canada geese and ducks, as well as bears and white-tailed deer. Parking areas, composting toilets, and water pumps are available along the trail.

The 161,890 acre Tioga State Forest derives its name from the Seneca phrase, “meeting of two rivers.” The forest is home to the Pine Creek Gorge, known as the “Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.” As you wander Tioga State Forest, you will encounter awe-inspiring views, as well as miles of streams, like Cedar Run and Babbs Creek. These forests are “working forests,” meaning that the authorities in charge engage in activities such as active timber harvests, while at the same time maintaining the forest’s wild character, and protecting the plant and animal communities and the landscapes and habitats that support them.

If you’re looking for a dog-friendly place to eat in the area, Lambs Creek Food and Spirits is a great spot. Serving a mixture of American and Italian fare, the brunch buffet includes a meat carving station, eggs, omelets, crepes, soup, and desserts. For dinner, why not try one of their so-called “Creeker Comforts” (get it?), such as Lambs Creek Lobster Fried Chicken, Baby Back Ribs, or Tall Texas Meatloaf. And, to add to all of this, you and the pooch can relax while you eat at one of the five outdoor tables in the landscaped outdoor area that overlooks the mountains.
