The 482-acre property now houses the town's library, playgrounds, gardens, a veteran's memorial, and a number of walking and jogging trails. Developed by the monks for recreation and work, the trails can be confusing, so it's best to obtain a map first. Adjacent to The Monastery is the Geddes Bowen Preserve, a minimally developed conservation area with short trails, wildlife, and native plants. Remember to always keep Fido on a leash and clean up after him.

Diamond Hill
Deriving its name from the mica-laden rocks that glitter in the sunlight, Diamond Hill Park is a dog-friendly gem that used to be a ski area. Today, it is home to athletic fields, picnic areas, and 3.8 miles of marked trails that lead visitors up “The Big Hill.” Next to the southeastern portion of the park is the Diamond Hill Reservoir, which offers beautiful water views. After walking around Diamond Hill Park, cross the street to The Ice Cream Machine where you can enjoy a cool treat with Fido at one of their outdoor picnic tables. The old-fashioned ice cream parlor serves homemade ice cream, low-fat yogurts, and non-dairy sorbets.

Valley Falls
Nestled along the banks of the Blackstone River, Valley Falls Heritage Park is a 2.5-acre scenic park and historical site with a picnic area and winding walkways. Take your best friend for a leashed stroll under the trees and next to the water, and check out the educational interpretive panels along the way. Since Valley Falls Heritage Park also serves as a boat launch for hand-carried boats, you and Fido might see people getting their canoes and kayaks into the water if you're standing on the railed stone wall that overlooks the river's edge. Little Pond
The Little Pond neighborhood is home to a number of preserves where you can follow various hiking trails and enjoy Cumberland in its natural state with your four-legged companion.
