Downtown Dayton has two lovely parks and trails that you and your dog can go explore one afternoon. The Deeds Dog Park is located right across the Mad River and is a safe off-leash park that your dog will love. The park has both grass and woodchips, and provides a pool for some time in the water. If you and Fido are in a mood for a walk, then head over to the Great Miami River Recreation Trail, which is a whopping 86 mile. No one will judge if you only walk a few of those miles! The trail is asphalt and is are mainly surrounded by lush grass, trees, and of course, the river.

The Wright Brothers Huffman Prairie Bikeway trail is a great trail to take your dog to for a nice run or walk. The trail is 4.6 miles and is a mixture of asphalt and concrete, which is perfect for your afternoon walk. The Wright Brothers Huffman Prairie Bikeway passes right by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Wright Brothers Memorial. If 4.6 miles aren’t enough for you and your dog don’t worry, the trail connects to the Mad River Trail which can extend your day of fun! The trail also offers cool markers which gives you history of the Wright Brothers and their achievements in Dayton.

The Montgomery County Bark Park is the perfect park to take your dog to if you’re looking for a good workout. This huge dog park is located on top of a hill, so you and Fido can get a nice hike in while you’re there. Water fountains are located outside the park so the two of you can stay hydrated, and there is a separate area in the park with agility equipment for your dog to play on. If you and your dog just want to walk around the park, that’s no problem either since there is a large paved path that winds through the entire park.

If you and your dog are looking for a great trail to walk on, check out the Creekside Trail in Beavercreek. This trail is 15 miles long and is primarily made up of asphalt and concrete. During your walk, you will be surrounded by grass and lots of trees and greenery, plus a map is provided so you don’t get lost. This trail is extremely popular since it is the main trail that connects Dayton to Xenia, and features numerous smaller trails running through it. While you and your pup are exploring, be cautious of the bike riders that frequent this trail.
