The friendly community of Deerfield is conveniently located, with easy access to Chicago's downtown area via the Loop or by train. Located in Lake County, the village has a wide variety of parks and recreation areas, family-friendly events, and plenty of places to enjoy a day off! You will find a few dog parks, colorful and unique dog-friendly eateries, and three major veterinary hospitals in the area if you need assistance.
Jaycee Dog Park, located in the eastern part of the village, is a fun place to stop by with your mutt to socialize with other canine friends and enjoy a chat with the local dog owners. Fenced and spacious, the dog park boasts plenty of room to run off-leash, dirt to dig up, and grass to wallow in.
Jaycee Dog Park is less crowded than the separate section for dogs in Jewett Park, which is a public park that attracts plenty of human and canine visitors every weekend! The dog area is fenced and can be easily supervised by owners relaxing on the benches in shade.
You can grab some grub in Deerfield at Dear Franks, a cool modern American eatery with dog-friendly outdoor tables and simple, but extremely delicious, food for everyone!
Downtown Deerfield is the pawfect place to pig out with your hound. Downtown’s local eateries are a great place to enjoy a doggie dinner date or catch up with some old friends! Italian Kitchen Restaurant is a family- and pet-friendly place with outdoor tables serving classic Italian fare for locals and tourists alike. This is the best place to relax, unwind, and treat yourself and your furry friend to something new. The place is usually packed with visitors! Looking for a light lunch or quick snack? Upper Crust Bagel Co. near Jewett Park serves yummy bagels with different fillings at outdoor tables.
Coastal Highland Park has plenty of dog-friendly options all over the area, but you can start by exploring the busy downtown area. It's home to uncountable eateries as well as the McClory Bike Path. This furrific hiking trail winds throughout Lake County for more than 25 miles, from Highland Park to Illinois-Wisconsin border. Knitting together the communities on the north shore of Chicago, the path is a must-visit for advanced hikers and adventurous pups! But, if you prefer something less active but still enjoyable, stop by Café Central, a French cafe with nice street views from outdoor tables and a free bowl of water for your furry friend!
You'd be barking mad to stay in a coastal city and never visit the coast! Head to the northern part of Highland Park to find Moraine Dog Beach, a great pet-friendly beach with spectacular views and welcoming warm water! The beach is not very big, but the area is enough for running off-leash and enjoying a great swim! This beach tends to get really crowded on weekends, so if you want to have more freedom, come by on weekdays and let your mutt have a blast! Make sure that you are registered at Heller Nature Center before visiting the park.
At the very southern border of Lake Forest and Bannockburn, you will find a place all the local pups rave about. Set between North Branch Chicago River and South Waukegan Road, Prairie Wolf Dog Park is more than just a dog park. Featuring about 44 acres of off-leash fun, a fence, and even a pond, this place will steal your pup’s heart forever! Adjacent to Prairie Wolf Slough County Forest Preserve, the park houses two separate areas for exercise, and a convenient, fenced path to the water, which prevents your pooch from swimming if you object. There are always plenty of pups, locals, and visitors enjoying themselves and looking for new friends to play with here!
Hi! My name is Nick and I'm 29 years old and currently taking a break from full-time employment. I am a long-time dog owner and lover with experience walking and sitting dogs. I love dogs, being outside, and getting exercise, so dog walking is just as much of a treat for me as it is for the animals! I am incredibly dependable and do not make commitments that I'm not willing to fulfill. I look forward to meeting you and/or your dog and treating him or her with the love and respect he or she deserves! Rest assured that, with me, your dog is in safe and loving hands.
