Dog Areas in Derby, NY

Derby, New York is a fun little town seated right in Eerie county. You will absolutely love that it is packed with things that you can do with your dog all year long. You can stay at one of the five pet-friendly hotels in the city. Take a walk through the town square, and don't forget to stop by town hall for a map of the area. They are super welcoming to new visitors and will gladly point to places of interest.

If you would like to go play on the beach, you can take your pup over to Bennett Beach and let them splash and play in the water. There are dog-specific beaches set up. You can go fishing or boating if you would like, too.

If you want something to do that isn't water-related, you could check out the Eighteen Mile Creek. Bring a leash and you can take your dog walking down the trails. You will see squirrels and rabbits all along the way. There is the creek to play in, but there are many other things to do as well. For instance, you could learn to track small animals or deer. Your pup will love all the new smells along the way. Don't forget to pack a picnic and some water.

The town of Evans is adjacent to Derby. Evans even has Derby addresses. They also have a dog park that is set up just so that the local dogs have somewhere to get off their leashes and just play. If you are visiting in the area, you can get a day permit so that you can play. Children are not allowed in the gates. There are two areas, one for big dogs and one for little dogs. The double gate system will help you keep your dog from escaping. You can meet local pet parents here as well. The park is open daily until 7 pm.

Knox Farm State Park has it all. You and your dog can walk the miles of trails through the park, provided that your pal is on a leash, of course. If you are looking for an off-leash fun zone, there's also a dog park here, which is open all year. It is a completely fenced zone that is designed for dogs to come and have a good time. There is no running water, so please remember to bring some. You can get some solitude if you want to walk the trails, or you can meet some pet parents at the park. This pawesome place is about half an hour away from Derby, but it definitely worth the drive!
