Descanso is a fantastic spot to take Fido out to for a nice vacation and a wonderful scenic view. Located in the Cuyamaca Mountains, Descanso borders the Cleveland National Forest, which makes it a great spot for horseback riding and hiking. Home to one veterinarian, Descanso will soon be a go to spot to take you furry pal to for both a great day out and a healthy checkup.

If you and Fido are looking for a great spot to hike and get some exercise, be sure to stop at the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. This park offers camping and hiking through a beautiful woodland forest that is covered in pine trees and meadows with plenty of creeks for Fido to jump into. One great trail to explore is the Paso Picacho which is 5-miles long with an elevation of 5,000-feet. You and your pup will be feeling the burn as you hike this mountain, but once you reach the top, you will love the view of the beautiful Cuyamaca Mountains.

Grab some food at Descanso Junction Restaurant before continuing your adventure throughout Descanso. This restaurant serves everything from breakfast to dinner, and values eating a meal with your family without being in a rush. They offer burgers, chicken, and onions rings for their hungry eaters, and welcomes your dog to join you at one of their outdoor tables.

Wrights Field is a 230-acre grassland that is perfect to take Fido for a day of exploring and running around off leash. The field is open with tons of grass, and features plenty of unmarked trails for you and Fido to explore. You can feel safe here with your pup since no vehicles are allowed to travel on it, and Fido can safety walk around with you off-leash. Wright's Field is relatively unknown except to locals, so you both can have a quiet hike with not too many people or dogs bothering you while you explore. Make sure to bring plenty of water for you pup since there are no trees for shade and no running water in the field.
