Dobbs Ferry, New York has a history deeply rooted in Revolutionary War. None other than George Washington himself camped in Dobbs Ferry with his troops in 1781, and it was from here that the Continental Army kicked off their historic march to Virginia. The village's location also made it the perfect spot to cross the Hudson, which meant it was raided several times.

Today, Dobb's Ferry has a reputation for being an up-and-coming hamlet and the perfect place to settle down and raise children, both of the human and canine variety! The first place you will want to stop with your dog in Dobbs Ferry is Juhring Nature Preserve. This is a little off the beaten path, but you will want to take the time to walk the trails. Bring a camera, or make sure your phone is charged because the scenery is barktastic. No matter what season you go, you are sure to fall head over paws for the natural beauty in this gorgeous park.

Waterfront Park is another local favorite, and there's even a restaurant here that allows pets on the patio. The trail along the water is peaceful. Best of all, you will adore the large trees in the spacious green meadows.

Dobbs Ferry is pawfect for those looking to visit or live in a cozy, quaint area that's just a skip and a hop from the Big Apple.

Gould Park is a great family park where you can bring your dog to enjoy lots of green space and open fields. This eight-acre park has plenty of things to see, do, and explore. You and Fido can even catch a game at the ball fields here. Dogs must be on a leash in this community park. You'll need to bring plenty of water and your own doggie waste bags. Bring a picnic and share a meal in this peaceful park. The only complaint you may have is that parking can be hard to find.

Dobbs Ferry Memorial Park is the home of the recreation department of Dobbs Ferry. This multi-acre facility has pools, trails, ball fields, and lots of wide open space. You and Fido can play here for hours on the playground, but dogs need to stay on-leash at all times. There are some places where dogs are not allowed, but for the most part, it is a pet-friendly park. The restrooms have running water; just bring a water dish. Trash cans are located throughout the park. Doggie waste bags are not provided, though, so bring your own. There is non-permit parking for visitors.

If you are looking for fresh food that is healthy and delicious, take your dog over to Tomatillo. This Fido-friendly eatery serves organic Mexican food that will cure your cravings and make you feel good about what you put in your body. Well-behaved dogs are always welcome to join their humans for a meal on the patio. Just bring a dish for your pup if you would like to give them water. This is the go-to place for tacos. After all, life just wouldn't be the same if you (and Fido!) couldn't enjoy Taco Tuesday.

Sushi Mike's does have other options, like beef teriyaki, pork dumpling soup, or even specialty rolls. Just make sure you have a leash and a water dish for your pup. The Hudson Social is a local casual bar that serves a full menu. You can get your favorite appetizers like cheese sticks or buffalo wings, or grab a classic main dish, like chicken strips, burgers, or even a fig salad. Your dog is always welcome to join you at all of the outdoor tables. All you need for him is a leash. The wait staff will even serve him a bowl of water if you ask for it. The beers are on draft or bottle, and there's a decent wine menu as well. You can meet up with friends to catch the game or just come to relax with Fido after work.
