Wicker Memorial Dog Park is about twleve miles from Dolton, in Highland. As far as socalization goes, this is a pawesome park. Not only can you let your dog off her leash for a while, but the park is shaded and has lots of benches to ensure pet parents are always comfortable. There is only one water fountain, which is located outside of the gate, so bring Fido's bowl. The cleaning stations are well-stocked. There are two sides to play in here, which are alternated for routine maintenance.

Erie Lackawanna Trail is a 17-mile trail that stretches from Highland to Chicago. This is part of the Rails-to-Trails Conservation effort, which converts abandoned and unused rail lines into Fido-friendly walking trails. This trail goes through green space and wetlands so Fido will have plenty of terrain to sniff. There are parks with running water along the way, but you'll want to carry some water with you just in case. The trail is clearly marked, and you should stay on the trail for your own safety.
