Dresher is a small community in Montgomery County, and is one of several communities included in Upper Dublin Township. The area was first settled in 1698 and was once the location of George Washington’s headquarters. The community also has a history of farming and mining limestone. Today, Dresher is a pupperific residential area. Unfurtunately, it does not have a veterinary clinic, but canine care is just around the corner in nearby Fort Washington.

Since Dresher is on the smaller side, it only has one dog friendly park of its own. Leash up your pup and head over to the Burn Brae Park. Located on the southeast side of the Twining Valley Golf Course, this neighborhood park has a patch of grass and a playground. But your pup will be more interested in the short hiking trail. This wooded path is less than half a mile, so it’s perfect for a mellow stroll.

When lunch time rolls around, head over to Primo Hoagies for a delectable sandwich. Gobble down a Roast Beef and Chees,e or Corned Beef and Swiss. Order your sandwich to go, or stay and eat at one of the three pet friendly outdoor tables.

Dresher dogs are lucky to live in such a pawsome place!

Is your pup bursting with energy? Then it’s time for a trip to the MonDaug Bark Park. Located inside Mondauk Manor Park, this off leash area is just minutes away from Dresher in Fort Washington. Take your pup over so she can mix and mingle with the local canines. There’s more than enough room for romping and wrestling with a playmate, or she can just sniff around on her own. Large and small dogs can play in separate areas, and double entry gates help contain the four legged patrons as they come and go. Since water is not available, be sure to bring your own H20.

The nearby town of Maple Glen is home to the Rose Valley Preserve, a parcel of land perfect for an afternoon adventure with your furry BFF. Leashed dogs are welcome to explore the network of trails in this forested park. Your pup will not only get some exercise, she’ll also get her fill of Mother Nature as she wanders through wetlands and woodlands. After her walk, stop by Pistachio Grille for a bite to eat. But beware; this place is so pupular you may need a reservation. Sit at one of the outdoor tables so your pup can join you as you dine on delicious dishes such as Baked Eggplant Napoleon or a Goat Cheese Salad.

If your dog is ready for a walk, pack some water, snacks, and a leash, and check out Four Mills Nature Reserve. This gorgeous park is located in Upper Dublin, and is only a quick 10 minute drive from Dresher. Escape the chaos of everyday life as you venture into forests of elm, hickory, maple, and box elder trees. The park sits on the banks of the Wissahickon Creek, so you’ll also hike through wetlands. Two half mile loop trails lead you around the property. Take time to read the interpretive signs, so your pup can learn about the park’s flora and fauna.

Treat your four legged friend to a walk in Roslyn Park. Conveniently located in Abington, this park is just minutes from Dresher. Your pal will wag her tail with appreciation as she trots around the paved path. She’ll love feeling the sunshine on her back as she moves and grooves through the grassy fields. If she’s in the mood for some off leash play, pop over to the Grove Run Dog Park. She can ditch her leash then romp around with her fellow canines. Small pups have a separate play yard, so petite pooches can enjoy the park at their own pace. Benches and drinking water are also available.

This Abington neighborhood is home to a couple pupperific parks. If your pup is craving some time in nature, Baederwood Park is the place to be. As he sniffs his way through this thickly wooded park, he may see a squirrel or two. Picnic facilities and a playground make this park even more pawsome. For a change of scenery, head over to Ardsley Park. Multiple ball fields and sports courts make this a favorite among the local two legged athletes. Your pooch will appreciate the paved walking path. Take a brisk walk or jog so he can get in his daily workout. Don’t forget to bring water and clean up bags.
