Duboce Triangle is a small neighborhood in central San Francisco, bordered by Lower Haight, The Castro, and the famous Haight-Asbury district. The area’s borders are defined by major thoroughfares such as Market Street to the southeast, but for the most part, it is a residential area. Similar to many famous areas in San Francisco, the streets in Duboce Triangle are lined with beautiful Victorian homes that have existed since the 18th century.

San Francisco’s climate is unique where most of the year doesn’t see temperatures outside of the 55 to 65 degree range. Due to its location on the bay, it is known for constant wind. The gusts can turn an average day into a cold one very quickly, but the summers are typically known for being beautiful and mild. If you decide to walk your dog on a particularly windy day, make sure to take the proper precautions for warmth.

San Francisco is famous for being one of America’s most 'hilly' cities. It is mostly residential areas and major businesses sections that are built into the rolling hills of California. Duboce Triangle maintains this aesthetic within its borders, but the hills and inclines aren’t as drastic as they are in other parts of the city which can be ideal for those looking for calmer and easier walks.

Starting from the southwestern corner of the triangle, you will be on a constant, gradual slope as you continue north into the neighborhood. The uppermost northern section of the neighborhood is at the highest elevation and it continues this way both to the east and the west. In the northwest corner, there is an even more dramatic shift in elevation as you climb a steep street up the California Pacific Medical Center Davies Campus which is a large hospital complex in a residential section of the neighborhood.

Noe & Beaver Mini Park is the only park or greenway within the actual boundaries of Duboce Triangle. It is a small, 2,500 square foot lot that is mostly used as a community garden in the southern tip of Duboce Triangle. If you are looking for more greenways to explore with your dog, there are still plenty of options in the areas immediately surrounding the neighborhood.

Directly adjacent to Duboce Triangle on its northern side is Duboce Park which is one of the most dog-friendly parks in San Francisco. It has a designated dog play area which has apparently become so popular that they had to create a separate section for 'people only' where leashes are still optional. The park is fairly large, spanning 4.3 acres, and it has several walking trails, athletic courts, and grassy areas, as well as the Harvey Milk Recreational Arts Center which is highly popular among locals.
