Durham is a city full of colorful and vibrant culture that hosts a variety of seasonal events celebrating the arts. If you arrive in town at the right time of year, you might be lucky enough to catch one of the many art festivals frequently held in the region. Durham is also home to a highly active, diverse, and unique music scene that will be sure to get your hips swaying, head-bobbing, and your dog's tail wagging. Turn on the radio and tune in with your pup to Duke University's WXDU radio station for information about local happenings, news, sports, and music. If visual forms of art are more your thing, be sure to check out the Nasher Museum of Art.

In addition to being big into the arts, Durham was recently ranked number seventeen on a list of the top one hundred pet-friendly cities in the United States. It's no wonder why; there's a wide variety of fun and exciting activities for you and your pet to enjoy together.

Looking for a hotel that won't mind some shedding? La Quinta Inn will allow up to two pets of any size (within reason) at no additional cost. After unpacking and settling down in your hotel room, be sure to visit pet-friendly restaurant Parker and Otis for a delicious, freshly prepared meal made with local ingredients. When it comes time for a walk, venture no further than Northgate Dog Park. This celebrated fenced, off-leash dog park includes a separate small dog area, benches, and water spigots for your furry friend. Whatever it is that brings you to Durham, you'll be sure to have a great time with your favorite companion.
