Saint Clair Shores is immediately east of Eastpointe, located on Lake St. Clair. This neighborhood is home to the Herman Brys Park, on Harper Avenue, which features playing fields, picnic tables and benches, a playground for the human tots, and paved, looping walkways pawrfect for taking a leashed Fido for a stroll over the vast open green space. For some off-leash fun, the park also contains the Statler Maloof Dog Park, named after a Saint Clair Shores dog named Statler and his owner, Mr. Maloof. The dog run’s fenced 1.25-acre space is divided into sections for large and small dogs, and features picnic tables for the humans’ comfort while the pups romp and socialize, along with small rain shelters. Be sure to bring waste bags and water! Arf!

Harrison Township Town Center
Harrison Township sits on Lake St. Clair’s shore a few miles north of Eastpointe, and it’s where you’ll find the Lake St. Clair Metropark, where you and the fur-pup will find lots to do. A paved trail follows the shoreline, with a 1,600-foot boardwalk that provides furbulous views of the lake. Nature trails meander through cottonwood trees, marshland and meadows where wildlife lurks. Birds are abundant here, and you’ll see some of the over 200 species as you walk. The boat launch ramps provide access to the lake if you want to take Fido out for a paddle and a swim, and in the winter, the cross-country skiing on the metropark’s groomed trails is pawtastic! This is a park where there’s something for everyone!

Warren Woods
This neighborhood in Warren, about 5 miles from Eastpointe, is the home of The Anne Fracassa Memorial Dog Park, inside Burdi Park. The 1-acre dog park features drinking water and a splash pool, as well as benches for the humans’ comfort while they watch their pups meet new and old friends, run and play. Shade trees are scattered around the park, waste bags and receptacles are provided, and secure access is assured by the use of passes and keys, easily available at the Parks and Recreation office or online. Open from 7:00 a.m. to dusk year-round, the park offers ample opportunity for Fido to romp! Pawtastic!

Clinton River Rd/ Schoenherr Rd
A few miles northwest of Eastpointe is Sterling Heights and it’s in this neighborhood you’ll find the 4.5-mile Clinton River Park Trail System. The asphalt trail arises in the Clinton River Heritage Park, where there is parking, and travels south along the river through Clinton River and Dodge Parks, ending at Schoenherr Road. There’s a side trail to Jaycee Park, where you will also find parking. Parking and access along the way also include at Clinton River Road near I53, and at Utica Road near 18 Mile Road. A wooden bridge is the entry point to Dodge Park, and here you’ll find waterfowl and frogs, along with small mammals coming to the river for water. Arf! You may also encounter beavers near their dam at a narrow point in the river. Pawtastic!

E 12 Mile Rd/ Dequindre Rd
This neighborhood in Madison Heights is just a few miles northwest of Eastpointe, and home to Rosie’s Park, a 31-acre swath of green that features playing fields, playground, skating rink and restrooms, as well as a paved walking/ hiking trail. You and your leashed fur-baby will have a pawrfect time exploring on the path across and around the perimeter of the park while the human members of the family play. The park is a mix of fields and forest, and the trail traverses both, so you won’t get bored with the same view as you walk! Arf!
