Eggertsville is a hamlet located in the town of Amherst that is highly walkable, with scenic streets and plenty of small shops. Bordered by Niagara Falls Boulevard and Kensington Road, Eggertsville offers tree-lined streets that lead up to some beautifully classic, older Western New York homes as well as Grover Cleveland golf course and the State University at Buffalo South Campus. Additionally, this area is known for its small but accessible neighborhood parks such as Dellwood, Fetto, and the Eggertsville Community Park.

The weather throughout most of this area is very comfortable during the summer and fall, although winters can be cold and snowy due to Eggertsville's proximity to Lake Erie. Lake effect snow can make walking and driving tricky at times, so be sure that you and your dog are outfitted in appropriately warm and dry clothing.

Eggertsville features shady streets that are mostly flat and easy to walk. The exception is the neighborhood north of Main Street and east of Eggert Road which contains some long, steep hilly roads. The neighborhoods offer classic pieces of architecture via older, colonial homes and mansions, and this suburb of Buffalo features large, established trees. This is a perfect location to walk a dog on a hot, sunny day. It's also an ideal place to explore with your dog, as most homes are well-kept and display gorgeous gardens in the spring, summer, and fall.

There are many greenways in Eggertsville's well-established neighborhoods. In particular, parks like the Eggertsville Community Park allow leashed dogs and offer trails that are short enough for a brisk, engaging walk. Smaller Parks like Dellwood and Fetto also feature gazebos, swing sets, and seating areas for a quick break or to let your dog experience some engagement with other people. These parks are also home to small animals like birds, squirrels, and rabbits, so keep your dog secure if they like to chase these woodland creatures. The trails in these parks are shared with other community residents, including runners, hikers, cyclists, and other dog walkers, so be sure to give way to other park enthusiasts who might be moving faster than you.
