California is going to the dogs. More than 4 out of 10 of all families in California have extended their family with a friendly canine companion. Escondido is no exception and with a population of approximately 150,000 people this translated to almost 60,000 dogs. But not only the residents are amiable towards dogs; the entire city of Escondido is considered pet-friendly.

There are many dog-friendly places in town, to the delight of the owners. Wine lovers can visit the Bell Marie Winery for a picnic with a good wine and a variety of nice cheeses or the Intertwined Bistro & Wine Bar. Another local suggestion is the Vinz Wine Bar that even has a special menu for dogs.

The May Flower Dog Park is agreed to be the best place for dogs to unwind in Escondido, California. The park is divided into a section for large dogs, a section for small dogs and a gated area for dogs all sizes and is well-maintained.

The natural surroundings of Escondido offer a wide variety of vegetation types, all of which can be witnessed at the Daley Ranch Preserve, a humongous conservation area managed by the city of Escondido. Dogs are allowed to join their owners as long as they are on a leash. Another great way to enjoy the day with your furry friend(s).
