Settled in 1742, most of the industry of this forested area was centered around timber, but today, the resident's of Exeter consider it a dog-friendly town, where you and your pup will find plenty to do. For any health concerns, the Wolf Rock Animal Health Center is ready to provide care with their holistic approach to animal medicine.

Plan a pawtastic day at the area's parks. Beach Pond is where you and your pup can relax while you do some well-deserved fishin’ and catch some trout for lunch! 

For a more adventurous day, head to Arcadia Management Area’s 14,000 acres. Here you will find trails for hikers, equestrians and bikers. This multiple use area is well-defined with miles of trails. Your pup is allowed off leash, but under voice control for everyone’s safety. More fishing is offered here with the stocked Wood River and multiple ponds, and canoes and kayakers can try their skills on the Class I and Class II stream here.

This nature preserve is well-known for its amazing hiking trails which wind amongst ponds and by waterfalls, for a picture-perfect day. Be sure to keep your pup on leash, and bring a picnic lunch, bottled water and clean up bags to keep this refuge pristine. No restrooms are available at this wildlife preserve, so plan accordingly. You and Fifi can choose the ½ mile loop for a quick walk, or take all the other 2 ½ mile loops for a full 10-mile day hike past ponds, and 1800’s farmsteads. Plan ahead as there is no food, water or restrooms available at either location. Leashes optional!

Head to the Goddard Memorial State Park in East Greenwich, north of Exeter, and experience 490 dog-friendly acres of outdoor adventure. Crawley Preserve offers dogs and owners three 1-mile long walking trails in this 99-acre preserve. The Browning Woods Trail is a great place to take a longer hike. It meanders through swamps, streams, wooded areas and through the local historical Browning Woods Farm, covering 165 luscious acres. Be sure to pack water, snacks and mutt mitts! When you’re finished, head to dog-friendly Jitter’s Café for a muffin and some coffee, or try Shayna’s for great meals all day long.
