Are you ready to pack your bags, get outside, and explore beautiful Fair Oaks with your four-legged companion? This town, located in the Golden State, offers numerous dog-friendly parks, hikes, and events.

If you're looking for a convenient and safe place to let your pooch off leash, look no further than Phoenix Dog Park. This park is open six days a week (only closed on Thursdays), this park offers over 80,000 square feet of play space! There are three separate areas: one for large dogs, one for small dogs and puppies (don't worry about your newly adopted pooch!), and an entirely separate for small/medium size dogs who may be less sociable. With two gated entrances and exits, gorgeous and convenient shade trees and benches, this park is not to be missed!

As for hiking in the area, if you're interested in a great workout, don't forget to make a stop by the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail. This route takes hikers alongside the American River, beginning in Discovery Park in Old Sacramento and ending at Beal's Point. Locals love the wide paths and the variety of routes. Along the 32 miles of trail, you'll find restrooms, telephones, and water fountains - perfect for an all-day excursion with Fido.

Is Fido chomping on the seat fabric, maybe he's not the only one that's hungry? There are several dog-friendly restaurants in Fair Banks. Round Table Pizza is a local favorite, as is Sunflower Natural Food Restaurant, which offers vegetarian options. Leashed dogs are, as long as they are socially friendly, more than welcome on the outdoor patio seating.
