Fleming Island is a picturesque, family-orientated area in Florida. It's not densely populated, which makes it perfect for those looking for a quiet vacation destination that's not too far from Florida's muttropolitan areas, like Jacksonville and Gainesville.
As far as canine care is concerned, Fleming Island is pretty much perfect for our furry friends. There are 4 major veterinary practices in the area, some of which have an after-hours emergency number.
Fleming Island also boasts 7 restaurants and eateries which welcome dogs at their outdoor seating areas. Dining outdoors is ideal in most parts of Florida, particularly from May to September, and Fleming Island is no exception. But it's worth noting that it can get pretty hot in the summer months, so be sure to bring plenty of water along for your adventures here.
You'll find several dog parks in nearby Jacksonville, just a half-hour drive away, as well as several pet-friendly lodging options, including hotels, R.V. campsites, and some AirBnB rentals. Jacksonville and other nearby cities are, unsurprisingly, chock full of sports bars and other late-night venues, many of which receive excellent reviews from other thirsty travelers.
Even though you may need to do some travelling to find a dog park and larger outdoor amenities, Fleming Island is a lovely place to live or just hang out with your doggie dude/dudette.
