Central Forks

Treat your pup to a walk in Tilicum Park. As Forks’ largest community park, this open space is a favorite among residents, both of the two legged and four legged kind. Clip on your pup’s leash and let him wander through the large grassy areas. He’ll love checking out new smells while getting some exercise and feeling the warm sunshine on his back. The park features a playground, ball fields, tennis courts, and a skate park. There’s also a 1930 Shay locomotive engine on display. Paying tribute to the town’s logging history, this local monument represents the strength and grit of the old Pacific Northwest.

East Forks

If your pup is in the mood for a hike, head over to the Elk Creek Conservation Area. Just minutes from downtown, this is a pawsome option if you want to get a taste of Forks’ natural beauty. Leashed dogs are welcome to enjoy the Trail of Senses Interpretive Hike. Your pooch will absolutely love this magical hike. A combination of dirt path and boardwalk, this trail descends into a thick forest with mossy trees and gnarly roots. You’ll even pass The Sisters, a pair of 200 year old Sitka Spruce. The trail is a three mile loop, but can be shortened to two miles if needed.

South Forks

A trip to Bogachiel State Park will make your pup bark for joy. The Bogachiel River flows right through this 123-acre thickly forested park. Let your pup be the guide as you follow the one mile trail through the Hoh Rainforest. He’ll feel like a true explorer as he makes his way through the dense vegetation. The river has excellent fishing. If you decide to cast a line, be sure you have a Washington recreational fishing license. Wildlife viewing and photography are also pupular activities in the park. The picnic facilities make it a great day use destination. There are also plenty of pet friendly campsites available, so pack a tent and stay a night or two.

Mora

Mora is a small community 20 minutes west of Forks. It is home to Quillayute River County Park, a puptastic place to spend some quality time with your canine companion. This 13-acre park has prime river frontage and is a favorite spot for anglers that are looking to reel in some salmon or trout. If you’re pup’s not into fishing, take her for a walk along the river’s edge. She can dip her paws in the water or chase a stick or two. The park also has a shaded picnic area, so bring a sandwich and some biscuits for your pup and enjoy lunch in the great outdoors.

La Push

When in this area, a trip to the beach is a must. If your pooch is planning on sun bathing while sipping on a puptail, she’ll be disappointed. But, if she wants mystical fog, piles of driftwood to climb, and a wide variety of sea life to sniff, she’ll be in heaven. La Push is 20 minutes west of Forks and is home to First Beach. It sits on the Quillayute Indian Reservation, so it is not bound by the pet restriction of other nearby beaches. Your pup can romp around the sandy surf, chase a stick, or check out some tide pools. Sounds furrific!
