Fort Campbell North is an interesting destination that provides most of the housing for the Army Base Fort Campbell. While most of the area is located in Kentucky, the borders also flow into Tennessee. Whether you are living or visiting, the Town Center Park is located at the corner of Indiana and Michigan Streets. The park offers a wonderful place to walk with your pooch or let the kids play on the shaded playground. While strolling through the park, you can relax on one of the benches or picnic tables and refill your water bottles at the fountain near the restrooms.  

Another option to get some exercise with Fido is Eagle Park. There are open fields where you can throw a ball for your pup and a playground where the kids can run around. The park is a great place to spend the day with the family and let your pup stretch his legs.

If your pup needs medical attention, you will need to travel to nearby Oak Grove where the Animal Hospital offers routine and emergency services. A great feature in North Fort Campbell is the North Dog Park on Morgan Road. Although there are some restrictions on breeds allowed on base, this is a wonderful dog park that allow pups to socialize and run around. There are two separate fenced areas for your pooch where Fido can exercise or sniff the trees and plants. You will often see your friends and their furry companions spending time at the park. You will need to bring your own doggie waste bags and water bottles, and clean up after your pup.

Quiet and serene, Wilkes Park is 5 minutes from Fort Campbell North in the town of Oak Grove. The park features a walking trail in addition to playground equipment and picnic pavilions. You and Fido can stroll along the path and admire the sights and sounds, or your pooch can roll around in the grass. There is a basketball court where the kids can play, and the playground is ADA compliant. About six miles south of Fort Campbell North, the South Dog Park in the Hammonds Heights neighborhood of Fort Campbell, Tennessee is just waiting for your pup! There are two separate areas, one for large dogs and one for small pups. Fill bottles at the water spigot in the parking lot, and the pups can run and play in the fenced-in area. If you have a new puppy, there is a designated puppy playtime for puppies under four months. You can bring them for some off-leash time and training from 8 – 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. While your pups play, you can relax on a shaded bench and socialize with friends.

Just fifteen miles southeast of Fort Campbell North, the Dunbar Cave State Park is a great place to go hiking and explore the caves. The park covers 110 acres and is known for its historical and archaeological significance. Pups and their parents can enjoy long walks through the peaceful trails while admiring local plants and views of Swan Lake. The short loop is easier and best for older pups while the longer loop is great if your pooch needs more challenging exercise. While you are walking, you can read about the local history and your pup will have a snifftastic time in the grass and plants.
