If you're planning on visiting the West Coast, specifically Northern California, with Fido, be sure to include Fremont, CA on your list of places to stop-by. Fremont has plenty of great places you can take your furbabies where you can both enjoy the atmosphere, together. Parks, hotels, and even some restaurants in Fremont are very dog-friendly.

Fremont Central Park on Stevenson is a one-acre dog park with plenty of outdoor activities, including trail running, a water park, and even some skateboarding, if you'd be so bold! Lake Elizabeth within Central Park is a beautiful lakefront family park on Paseo Padre Pkwy that has BBQ and picnic areas. On Stanford Avenue, you can find Mission Peak Regional Park, which has plenty of trails and wildlife. Lone Tree Park on Turquoise Street is also a great place to bring Fido. Quarry Lakes on Isherwood Way has several lakes and trails to check out.

Worked up an appetite? Pieology Pizzeria on Paseo Padre Pkwy lets you build your own pizza any way you like it. The Counter is also on Paseo Padre Pkwy and serves excellent burgers. Jack’s Brewing Company on Argonaut Way is like a sports bar with an outdoor area for pets. Boudin Bakery on Mowry Avenue has fresh baked bread and sandwiches. Picnic Sandwich Bistro on Civic Center Drive has a beautiful patio area and great sandwiches. After you've worn down Fido at the park and had your fair share of pizza, get some rest at La Quinta Inn & Suites, Best Western, Residents Inn, or any of the other pet friendly hotels in Fremont.

Just outside of the Parkmont community is Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area, which is sure to be a pawsitive experience. The recreation area has trails where your dog can get in his daily walk, but if you and your pet are feeling more adventurous, there’s an ongoing scavenger hunt that the two of you can participate in! If you’re tired when you finish, we hope you packed a picnic basket so that you and your pet can head over to one of the picnic areas and dive in. While in the park, your dog must remain on a leash at all times. A fee of two dollars per dog is charged.

Located just east of downtown Fremont is Glenmoor, a neighborhood where you and your dog can both enjoy a treat! Le Moose Crepe Café serves sweet crepes alongside Thai food, and your pet is welcome to join you on the outdoor patio – just make sure he stays away from the restaurant’s brownie cheesecake! If you’re in the mood for a more classic approach to food, try Nation’s Giant Hamburgers. Good luck trying to resist the puppy dog eyes you’re sure to get from your four-legged friend; maybe bring a bone along. A leash is required at both restaurants.

Mission Valley is home to Mission Peak Regional Park, and if you and your pup are feeling adventurous, Mission Peak can’t be beat! While visitors will have to face a steep climb to get to the park, there are a lot of vast, open areas for you and your pet to explore. If you or your dog prefer a more conventional route, there are also several sprawling trails to enjoy. The views of the surrounding valley are pawsitively breathtaking, so make sure to bring along a camera! Locals advise watching out for bikers and wildlife. A leash is required within the park.

Fremont Central Park Dog Park is a one-acre, fenced-in area where your pet can enjoy some fun off the leash. If it’s hot outside, no problem; the park comes with sprinklers for your pup to run through. If you want to see the rest of Fremont’s Central Park, including Lake Elizabeth, your pet is welcome to join you; just make sure to bring a leash. After having some fun at the park, head over to one of Central District’s numerous pet-friendly restaurants, including Pieology Pizza or Sweet Tomatoes.

Just 4 miles north of Fremont is Union City’s Decoto neighborhood, also referred to as the “Seventh Street” district. Seventh Street is home to Drigon Dog Park, where your pet can have some off-leash fun. The park is split into three sections: a main area for all dogs, an area for dogs under thirty pounds, and an area for dogs over thirty pounds. The park features a bone-shaped path for walking, a watering station, and plenty of fake fire hydrants for when your pet has got to go! If your pup is more adventurous, there’s also an obstacle course. Your dog definitely won’t be melan-collie here!
