Gaithersburg is technically located in the Montgomery County in Maryland. Established in 1878, the city has grown from an agrarian town to a major regional location for high-technology companies. Their flag features a 295-year-old forest oak tree that, unfortunately, crashed down in 1997 due to a rainstorm. The tree served as an inspiration to the city’s logo.

Green Park Dog Exercise Area is open for Gaithersburg residents with licensed dogs. This is an off-leash park that is separated into two sections - an upper level with bluestone dust-based ground cover and a lower level that is covered with grass. There are benches for you to use and water stations for your pup. Fill your tummy with delight at Union Jack’s. Union Jack's is Montgomery County’s British Style pub and restaurant. They serve mouthwatering food for lunch and dinner. They also have different kinds of draft beer. There is an outdoor dining area on the left, and the right side is a huge patio area where dogs of all sizes are welcome.

Pets can also model citizens. Gaithersburg held a Citizen Pet Photo Contest for its residents in August of 2014. Pet owners only needed to submit a photo of their lovely pets – dogs, cats, birds, etc. Voting took place in the city’s official Facebook page. Luke, Lily, and Blackjack received the most number of “likes” in the city’s Facebook Page and were awarded Gaithersburg’s Citizen Pet of the Year.
