North Laurel Springs
New River State Park is located in North Laurel Springs, around 35 miles away from Galax. This expansive park offers ten trails that meander through forests and are both family-friendly and dog-friendly. Hidden Oaks Dog Park is a 5-acre park that's the perfect place to let your dog off-leash in an enclosed space and let him enjoy running and socializing with other pups. Like most dog parks, this one has two separate areas for large and small breeds. The ground is mostly grass, and there are some trees that provide shade for the hot days. Pet parents can rest and relax at the shaded picnic tables or on the benches in the dog park. Water is provided, but waste bags are not.
