Golden, Colorado, is a small-scale city just 15 miles west from Denver, Colorado, located in the seclusive valley of Clear Creek Canyon and north of the I-70. Golden was, and still is, a lively town. The name of the city is derived from its heydays during the Gold Rush but today Golden is still an attractive place to visit due to its historical past, economic importance, and amazing natural surroundings.

The scenic beauty of Golden, Colorado, makes it a very welcoming place for both dogs and horses as there is plenty of trails to discover and areas to explore. The following four trails are favorites among the locals but beware; they vary in difficulty.

The Beaver Brook Trail is a surprisingly challenging hike for dogs and owners alike, despite being at a short distance from Denver. This 3.6 hike trails through the south fringe of Clear Creek Canyon. The Frazier Meadow Trails starts in Golden Gate Canyon State Park and is divided into twelve smaller trails with varying difficulties. Each route meanders through a magnificent scenery existing of sprawling meadows, tall mountain peaks, and conifer forests.

The Colorado Trail is a breathtaking trail that stretches from Durango to Denver, with the heart of the Trail, the Colorado Trail Foundation, located in Golden. In some parts of the trail, dogs are not required to be on a leash which makes this route a favorite among local dog owners.

Golden, Colorado, also has two off-leash dog parks, Dog Park at Tony Grampsas and Homer's Run Dog Park at Ulysses Ballfield, rounding off the amenities for this particularly dog-friendly town.
