For some pawtastic fun with pup in tow, don’t miss the Ken Weber Conservation Area at Cascade Brook in Smithfield. There are 27 acres of paradise tucked into this area. A one-mile trail meanders past a brook and a small waterfall, all while in a most beautiful area of shade trees and rock outcroppings. Be sure to be careful with your pup during wet conditions on these rocky slopes. You can relax and enjoy the open spaces throughout the park, as well. Hop on this one-mile trail that begins here and runs alongside the Woonasquatukcet River. This old rail trail is perfect for all pup-abilities. Bring plenty of water and clean up bags. Fido must remain on leash on this multi-use trail for his safety. If Fido would like to romp on an extended leash, there is a large open space, perfect for just that, at the Esmond Park Conservation Area adjacent to the trail.

Stop by the Esek Hopkins Trailhead, located in the Esek Hopkins Park. Two loop trails each feature over a mile of walking through the forest. Take the Blue Loop up to the top of Huckleberry Hill. There is an elevation increase, so plan accordingly. For elderly pups, choose the White Loop along the stream and lower-lying areas. It is important to keep you fur-ever friend on leash while hiking these trails. Restrooms are in the adjacent park.
