There’s also a separate area for small dogs, so your pooch can socialize no matter their size. Be warned, though -- Grass Island Dog Park is, well, grassy, so you might want to bring a damp towel in case your buddy gets muddy.

If you and your best friend are looking to get back to nature, look no further than the Babcock Preserve. This fabulous forested area is a favorite of local dog owners, and a pawefect spot for leashed hikes. There’s plenty of parking, so it’s an excellent alternative if you can’t quite squeeze in at the park on Grass Island! Like the Grass Island Dog Park, there’s a separate small dog area, and the park has two doggy drinking fountains. However, keep in mind that the park authorities shut off the water in the winter, so you might have to bring your own bottle.
