The city of Haverhill is a large metropolitan area, located just 15 miles from the coast along the Merrimack River. The city has gained the nickname, "The Queen Slipper City", thanks to the fact that it onced produced one-tenth of all the shoes in the United States. Although your pup may not be interested in shoes, they will fall in love with Haverhill thanks to the number of dog-friendly parks, trails, and 2 animal hospitals in the city.
The dog-friendliest park in the city is Winnekenni Park that provides over 700 acres of protected land to explore and play in. The area is made up of dense forests and nature trails, with some open areas, and two man-made ponds for fishing and swimming. There are dog-friendly beaches along Kenoza Lake that connect to over 10 miles of walking trails, an open field, and picnic area with water fountains and benches. Dogs must be on a leash inside the park.
John's Woods at Tattersall Farm is another great place to take Fido, due to its large area and thick, quiet woods. This place has two open fields and lots of secluded trails that are perfect for getting some one-on-one time with your pup. The area does not require pups to remain on a leash, but you will need to remember to bring water and clean-up bags before heading here.
Nature walks, open fields, and dog-friendly recreational fields are all available to pups, thanks to Haverhill's dedication to its four-legged residents.
