Indianapolis Blvd

Highland certainly knows how to take care of its four-legged residents! The city maintains the Wicker Memorial Dog Park, located in the northwestern part of the town, and the locals pawsitively love it! This park is known to get muddy after a rain, but doggies tend to love playing in the mud pits anyway. If you get tired, you can sit on the benches provided and keep an eye on your pup's romping skills! There is also a water fountain there; you just have to bring a bowl. Be aware that the dog park only accepts registered pups. Also, pit bulls and pit bull mixes are, unfortunately, prohibited from entering the park.

Hyde Park

Ruffly 24 miles away from Highland is one of the best doggie parks in the vicinity. Jackson Bark is located in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. The dog park, which is nestled within Jackson Park, comes complete with plenty of obstacles that will keep your puppy entertained for hours! The park even has a separate area for antisocial or shy doggos where you can close off your pup until they get accustomed to the other dogs. A water fountain, poop bags, and free parking are some of the other perks that this amazing park has in store for its visitors!

Willow Creek

If you prefer a place where your small pooch will be able to play separately from the bigger pups and vice versa, feel free to head to Portage Dog Park. The park is located in central Portage, around 18 miles from Highland. In both areas of the park, you can find agility equipment and picnic tables for the dog owners. The best part about this park, other than the fact that it's huge, is that there is no required membership or any fees; the only thing you should worry about is your dog having proper tags and proof of current vaccinations.

Southwest Crown Point

The Dogwood Run at Lemon Lake County Park is also a nice option that you have while you're in Highland. Prior to visiting this place, you have to purchase a pass either monthly or daily. One of the park's rules is that children under the age of 12 are not allowed in. The 14-acre park is divided into two 7-acre zones for small and large doggos. One of the areas has an obstacle course. If you have a little pupper younger than 4 months you should not bring it there. When it comes to water availability, even though there are water fountains you should bring water with you just in case.

Southeast Homewood

Located fourteen miles west of Highland is Rover's Run Dog Park, which your dog will pawsitively enjoy! The shade structures and water accessibility are pawfect features in the summer. This park is for members only -- your canine buddy will need to have a tag from the county.  Your doggie's vet will need to confirm the health status of your pup for the membership process. If safety and health are your priorities, this is the place for you and your pup! There is a walking trail around the 3-acre park that you can use as well. A training area, agility equipment, a water fountain, and benches are also provided for your convenience.
