Huntley doesn't have any dog parks of its own, but you can find one a short drive away in Crystal Lake. Head over to the Hound Town Dog Park, within the larger Lippold Park. The dog park is 3 acres for dogs to play around and socialize off-leash. This is a members-only park, so you'll need to pay a fee to the city parks department before visiting. The park has a large dog area and a small dog area. There are lots of water bowls and waste bags there, so you don't have to worry about remembering to bring any of that. It's very clean and shaded and has benches for the pet owners. All you need to bring is your sense of adventure and Fido's favorite toy!

There are no poop bags provided and no trash stations, so you should be prepared for that. The park is free and there is no permit needed for entering. There is a great trail in the vicinity of Huntley called Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve, about 25 miles away from Huntley. The designated off-leash area for dogs in the Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve is fenced on three sides, so if you have a runner, you might want to keep the leash on. The area is open from one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset. You will need a permit to enter the area, which is $40 for residents and $150 for non-residents. But don't worry if you don't want to buy an annual pass; there are daily permits that can be obtained on-site. Dogs are also welcome on the other trails at the preserve, but they must be on-leash. Make sure you bring water and poop bags!
