Dixie Springs

The 20,000 acre park’s main feature is the Sand Hollow Reservoir. Watch for signs indicating where dogs are allowed on the beaches. Since snakes and scorpions live in these parts, it’s a good idea to keep your pal away from bushes. Northeast Hurricane
Since Hurricane has such heavy restrictions for dogs in city parks, it’s a good thing local canines have access to the Hurricane Dog Park. Dogs of all shapes and sizes come to this two acre off leash area to let loose and run free. Your furry friend can dart and dash around with new playmates, or chase a ball in a game of fetch. Passive and small dogs even have their own section to play. The terrain is a combination of grass and dirt, so your pup may have dusty paws when it’s time to go home. Water is available and a couple benches are provided for pet parents. Sounds furrific!

East Hurricane
If your pup feels like hitting the trails, head over to Gould’s Rim Trailhead and get hiking. This trail is on the southern end of the Hurricane Cliffs Trail System and is just over three miles long. Let your pooch be the guide as you make your way through the breath taking scenery. Enjoy 360° views of red rock mesas against the bright blue sky. For a longer hike, head three miles east to Jem Trailhead. Since this is the Mojave Desert, it’s a good idea to test the sand before starting out. Remember, if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your pup’s paws.

South La Verkin
If Confluence Park isn’t on your pup’s barket list, it should be. The southern entrance to this gorgeous park can be found just minutes north of Hurricane in the neighboring town of LaVerkin. Named after the confluence of Ash Creek, LaVerkin Creek, and the Virgin River, it is tucked away at the base of basaltic lava cliffs. Follow the Confluence Trail, then connect with the Virgin River Trail for a pawsome four mile hike. Your pooch must be leashed at all times and stay on the trail since there are a variety of ruins scattered throughout the park. Also, keep your eyes open for wildlife; deer, beaver, fox, and snakes all call this place home.
