North/Airport

The neighborhood near the airport Is home to the Idaho Falls Dog Park. The large green stretch of land on Lindsay Blvd. has two fenced in areas for dogs to run leash-free. One side of the area is for small dogs, and the other is for big ones. This dog park has no shade, and only a few benches for the human companion. Water buckets are supplied at the park, and there are waste receptacles as well. Nearby, Russ Freeman Park offers still more opportunity for exercise. This 14-acre tract of land has walking paths of varying distances for a person and a dog to get a breath of the clean Idaho air. A leash is required on these walking paths.

Downtown

This historic neighborhood has many things for dogs and their companions to see and do. First, take a walk along the very pawpular Snake River Greenbelt. This paved 5- mile walk is used by dog walkers, hikers, skaters, and bicyclists. Leashes are a must on this breathtakingly scenic walk. The Snake River Greenbelt meanders along and over the rocky Snake River. The trail features a chance to view the beautiful cascades of the Snake River. It also has colorful painted rocks, benches, and water fountains. Downtown also has several places to stop and grab a bite with Fido. Jalisco’s No. offers you and your dog outdoor dining.  This Mexican restaurant, located on the River Pkwy. north of Broadway, offers Mexican favorites, which you can enjoy outdoors with your pup, who's sure to be dog tired after walking the Greenbelt.

The South neighborhood of Idaho Falls has no shortage of parks to traverse with your pup. The largest one is Tautphaus Park, accessed at 2800 Memorial Drive, which has many walkways and picnic areas for you and your dog to enjoy on leash. 20th Street Park is one of many of the small parks you and your dog can explore in Idaho Falls. These small parks have some green space and a picnic table for you and your dog to share brunch or an afternoon snack.  Candlewood Suites, located at 665 Pancheri, allows visitors with dogs to stay the night for an additional fee of $15 with no size restrictions. If hungry, you and your dog can chow down at the Frozen Gator. This restaurant has an outdoor patio so you and your friend can eat some big burgers in the sunshine.

The small city of Ammon is just 4 miles southeast of Idaho Falls. This small city features services, parks, and places to eat for you and your pet. This is a growing and vibrant community, and has 9 parks comprised of 62 acres! A polite pup on leash can enjoy the  ¾  mile walking path around McCowin Park. Everyone keeps this path clean, so make sure to follow suit! The numerous waste stations along the path make it easy to clean up after your companion. The many shade trees make a summer walk a bit cooler, and a fall walk bright with color. Animal Oasis at 4372 E 17th Street provides a doggie daycare, boarding, and grooming for dogs under 40 lbs. It's a favorite place for the pomeranians and shih tzus.

Pocatello

A one hour drive from Idaho Falls is the town of Pocatello. Pocatello loves dogs! There are two dog parks in this small town. The Old Town Bark Park is located in downtown Pocatello. It is a single fenced area where large and small dogs play leash-free. The area is a mixture of grass, dirt, and wood. Katie’s Dog Park, located at 3000 Avenue of The Chiefs, is a larger dog park. This ½ acre public park gives dogs the opportunity to run and socialize leash-free. This park has separate areas for small and large dogs. All the necessary amenities, like water and waste receptacles, are provided. Pocatello takes good care of its canine citizens!
