Nestled on the banks of the serene Guadalupe River, Ingram, TX is a family-friendly place with a real small-town vibe and a strong community spirit. The town’s civic pride is displayed everywhere, from its historic shopping district stocked with local businesses and artisanal shops to its small but thriving arts scene.
That’s not Ingram’s main claim to fame, though -- the area is home to Stonehenge II, a three-quarter scale plaster model of the ancient Druidic prayer circle (or alien landing site, depending on who you ask) in Salisbury, England. Why spend your time and money on a transatlantic flight when you can visit artists Al Sheppherd’s replica on picturesque Ingram parkland? The area is also guarded by two concrete copies of the famous Easter Island Maoi Heads. You and your leashed pooch are welcome to wander around the "stones"!
Ingram doesn’t have its own off-leash area, but you and your buddy are sure to sniff out some exercise options! You'll find a community park here that’s both scenic and ideal for a leashed stroll. For doggy dining, check out the fabulous fur-friendly Billy Gene’s Restaurant, which serves up excellent fried okra and caters to canines on their riverside terrace. And if your furry friend longs to run free, don’t fret -- you’ll find plenty of pawesome dog parks a little fur-ther afield!
