While the town's main attraction (the hot springs) aren't exactly dog-friendly, there are a number of other nature-oriented activities that are sure to occupy you and your pup all day long. For your first stop, head just over an hour north to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. This incredible expanse of perfectly preserved nature gives visitors a chance to get a glimpse into the vast California desert. Located in the heart of the Cayumaca and Laguna Mountains, this incredibly scenic state park offers its visitors more than 26,000 acres of land plus more than 100 miles of hiking trails throughout a variety of terrains and landscapes, including fir, pine and oak forests, as well as several meadows and bodies of water. There are also numerous species of animals found within the park, including the infamous mountain lion.
