Julesburg is a small town of fewer than two thousand permanent residents. It is known for being a stop on the famous Pony Express. When it comes to four-legged residents, Julesburg has one veterinary clinic which takes care of routine and most emergency needs, and it also offers grooming services.

A person with a canine family member will find plenty of open spaces to play just a short drive away.  The town has one public recreational space, Julesburg Baseball Field.  This wide-open grassy space attracts people with a leashed pup.  A stroll through the grassy fields is a good way to get some healthy exercise outdoors.

For a more vigorous hike, a person with a pup can head out to the Sedgwick Bar State Game Preserve.  Sedgwick Preserve is located thirteen miles east of Julesburg.  This state-owned property consists of 895 acres of natural open space.  It is a popular spot for hikers and hunters.  Many dogs accompany their people on a hunt for birds like geese, quail, pheasants, and dove.  The trails are not well-marked in spots, though, so pay close attention while walking.

North Sterling State Park is located just an hour's drive east of Julesburg.  This park offers 6.5 miles of well-marked hikes.  All the hikes are easy, and dogs are welcome on-leash.  In addition, this state park has fishing and a campground.

You and Fido will find it hard to get bored in the pawesome town of Julesburg!

This neighborhood is just a forty-five-mile drive west of Julesburg. The destination that will delight a pup is the town's main park, Legion Park.  This park has 150 acres of recreational space which includes picnic areas and a fishing lake.  It's also an access point for the Sidney Deadwood Trail, which spans almost six miles.  It is a pawpular place for walkers, runners, and cyclists, so make sure your pup is comfortable sharing the path.  The entire trail is paved and flat and takes a hiker through Legion Park and the lake.  People with leashed dogs will find this a great place to get some less strenuous exercise.  After a hike, a stop at Runza may be in order.  This Midwest chain restaurant offers dog-friendly tables for canine customers.
