An hour north of San Antonio, you and Fido will find fun and pup-friendly destinations in Kerrville. With beautiful weather and amazing scenery, pups and their parents can spend hours exploring the parks, trails, and Guadalupe River all throughout the year. One of the most popular destinations in town is the Kerrville-Schreiner Park where you can enjoy walking the trails among the 517 acres of space, or pitching a tent and camping in the RV park. Pups enjoy walking along the river sniffing the grass and barking at the birds and wildlife. Families will also love the kayak and canoe rentals, picnic areas with BBQ grill, and playground.

You are sure to have a pawsome time hiking the River Trail system located throughout the town. The trail is a 10-foot-wide walking and biking trail that offers several different trailheads beginning at the Riverside Nature Center and going south to the Kerrville-Schreiner Park. You can stop off in any of the five recreation park areas and spend time at the playground or resting on a shaded bench.

Going out for dinner is also a family affair. Stop by Billy Jean’s where Texas-style comfort food is at the top of the menu. Sit on the outdoor patio with Fido and admire the views of the river while your pup laps up water from his own bowl. After dinner, plan a trip to the Double L Ranch Wild Feed store. The local family owned shop features wildlife and pet supplies, and provides excellent customer service.

Your furry family members will also appreciate the eight veterinarian clinics located conveniently in Kerrville. Staff at the locations will treat your pooch with care and concern, and they are available for emergencies and routine care. Pups and their parents will find Kerrville is both family and Fido-friendly with plenty of activities and parks to enjoy time together.

Fido will love running and romping through the grass at the Louise Hays Park off Thompson Drive. You can plan to spend the day walking along the trails or fishing near the dam. Pups enjoy the paved walkways that curve along the river’s bed where they can have a snifftastic time exploring plants and trees along the way. Your pooch will also want to stroll down to the southside of Louise Park and spend some time off-leash at the Lehmann-Monroe Dog park. The two parks are connected, and there are fenced areas separated for both large and small pups. If you are hungry, walk over to Cartewheels Catering or try some soup and salad at Francisco’s where pups are welcome on the outdoor patio.
