Killingworth is a small town, but still has some pretty great dog-friendly opportunities. The Killingworth Recreational Park is the best place to go in town, with over 50 acres of open land for Fido to run around on. The park is made of different soccer fields, a paved trail and some open areas that are dog-friendly to leashed pups. There are also benches and trash bins located throughout. The No Blaze Trail is another dog-friendly option on the west side of town, with 3 miles of nature trails open to leashed dogs. Owners will have to bring clean-up bags and water while on the trail.

Kelseytown

Clinton is just 6 miles away to the south of Killingworth, and provides some excellent dog-friendly activities inside the neighborhood of Kelseytown. Bailey's Dog Park is a large fenced-in area with separate spaces for large and small dogs, double-gated entrances, and a mixture of shady and open land. Dogs and humans can enjoy plenty of amenities around the park, including free toys, dog water bowls with water, clean-up stations, and benches. The Peters Memorial Woods nearby provides a fun place to go for dogs and humans who love their hikes, offering an extensive trail system and lots of parking. Owners must keep their pups on a leash while in the woods.

South Clinton

South Clinton is the southern neighborhood in Clinton, and has become a great spot to travel to for Killingworth dog lovers. The Clinton Town Beach is a sunny place to go and has lots of things to do, like the designated dog walking trail and exercise area that allows Fido a good chance to go on a long walk and get plenty of energy out. Dogs are not allowed in the sandy areas of the park, but can enjoy some romp and play in the grassy fields of the park while on a leash, with access to water fountains, clean-up stations, and benches from the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM.

Madison is a quaint little town 8 miles south of Killingworth that attracts a lot of the residents thanks to the Hammonasset Beach State Park. The state park is dog-friendly to leashed pups, and has an extensive network of nature trails, picnic areas and ball fields open year-round. Dogs must remain on a leash while in the park, and can even enjoy the beach areas between the months of November to March. Outside of this time, they are not allowed on the beach due to tourism. Humans can also enjoy additional features like the clean-up stations, water fountains, and benches posted around the park.

Westbrook is small town 9 miles southeast Killingworth that provides plenty of options for humans and Fido to get closer to nature. The Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge, a 950-acre preserve with 7.2 miles of dirt and paved trails. The trails are open year-round to bikers, horse travel, and leashed pups for walks. Owners must bring water and clean-up bags to the park. The town also has an inner-city park known as the Daniel P. Wren Park, which provides visitors with paved perimeters trails, covered picnic shelters and plenty of open areas for Fido to run around in. Dogs must remain on a leash, and have access to water fountains, benches, and trash bins.
