One of the best features of the Seven Springs neighborhood is the Cliffs of the Neuse State Park. There are five hiking trails that go along the Neuse River where you can walk Fido as long as he stays on his leash. Some of the trails lead to fishing spots, but there are also camping areas were you and your pup can pitch a tent. If you are spending the day at the park, plan a picnic at the shelter where you can relax with your pup and enjoy a cool drink.

Just 12 miles east of La Grange in the town of Kinston, Fido can have a furtastic time at the Rotary Dog Park. This amazing area features three separate fenced-in areas where your pup can run and play. If your pooch loves the water, there are two ponds where Fido can fetch a stick or just get his feet wet. The walking trail around the fenced-in areas are great for exercising and getting your laps in. The agility equipment is perfect if you are training your pooch, or he just likes to play. Doggie waste bags and water fountains are available, and you and your pooch will enjoy socializing with other pup parents. After a day at the park, head over to The Peach House Restaurant where you and Fido can enjoy a meal at the outdoor tables.

Another nice park in the Lakeview Trail neighborhood of Kinston is Barnet Park. You and Fido can watch a baseball game while relaxing at one of the picnic shelters. Walking around the park on the paved path is great for extra exercise and getting the heart pumping. When ball games are played, you can buy a snack at the concession stand and fill up water bottles at the fountain. Kids will also enjoy hanging out at the park kicking a soccer ball. The park is well-kept, and you'll need to bring your own doggie waste bags to help keep it that way.
