Once a prominent location on the historic Santa Fe Trail, Las Animas is a small community in Bent County, southeastern Colorado. Rural but modern, the place is perfect for visiting with family on a historical adventure around the states. Bent’s Old Fort’s and Boggisville’s memories are now carefully preserved and showcased in Las Animas. The town lacks pet-friendly facilities, but don’t give up that easily. Although the ride to Pueblo will take about 2 hours, you will have a great variety of pet-friendly places, shops, eateries and 14 vet hospitals at your service.

But before going too far, pay a visit to John Martin Reservoir State Park in Hasty, a scenic RV campground with all the outdoor attractions possible! As with any other campground, your puppy is welcome to join on-leash for a snifftastic adventure ahead! Close to historic landmarks, the place is full of fun: fishing, picnicking, and (probably the best activity) bird watching. There are hoards of different feathered friends, especially near the water.

However, if you prefer comfort over any sort of adventure, Red Lion Hotel in La Junta will welcome you with spacious rooms, a BBQ restaurant, and pet-friendly facilities.

Las Animas is pawfect for pups and parents who pre-fur a quiet, laid-back lifestyle!
