East Lava Hot Springs

Lava Hot Springs doesn't have any of its own dog parks, but that doesn't mean there's nothing for you and your pooch to do here! If you are craving something delicious and want to take your pooch along, head to East Lava Hot Springs. This neighborhood is home to an adorable concession stand called The Dog House. This café is an outdoor spot where you can grab a quick bite to eat. There is little seating inside, but plenty of benches outside. Remember to bring a leash and Fido's collapsible water bowl with you if you want to chow down here.

Petticoat Peak

Petticoat Peak has the highest altitude of any mountain in the Fish Creek Range. Mountain climbers, nature lovers, and adventurous pups from all over Idaho flock here to enjoy some R&R in the great outdoors. This mountain range is the perfect place to take your four-legged friend if you are in the mood to spend a day outside. You will see people climbing, hiking, and mountaineering throughout the range. Just make sure you take your own supplies, as well as a camera or your phone to snap pics of the canyons and ridges along the way. Keep your pup leashed at all times -- it is too easy to get lost here!

Sedgwick Peak

If you drive only 15 minutes south of Lava Hot Springs, you will find Sedgwick Peak. This mountain is a very interesting one because, unlike others, it has special amenities. There is a gift shop with plenty of clothing and trinkets and even a Starbucks kiosk at the foot of the mountain. Whether you spend the day hiking on the trails, relaxing, or just exploring with your four-legged friend, you can end the day with a delicious coffee and some souvenirs to commemorate this un-fur-gettable adventure. This is a very popular mountain in the area, so you are bound to see other humans with their pups.

North McCammon

Do you love to spend your days outdoors in nature with your furry friends? If you drive only 10 minutes from Lava Hot Springs, you can find yourself at Indian Rock Park. This gigantic park has plenty of space for you and your pooch to run, play, hike, or relax. However, the leash requirement is strictly enforced, and you'll see signs that say, "All dogs must remain on-leash" throughout the park. This park has huge rocks in addition to large grassy fields where you will see many dogs and people jumping and climbing. This furrific park is kind of like an outdoor amusement park for pooches!

West American Falls

Although Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve spans multiple cities, the entry point closest to Lava Hot Springs is the one located in West American Falls. It’s important to note that it takes approximately three hours to get to the park, so you may want to consider making a day or a weekend trip. This park is extremely interesting and not only because of its name. It is approximately 400,000 acres in size so you couldn’t explore the entire park in a weekend even if you tried! However, it is the perfect place to take your pooch for a day outside for some peace and quiet.
