Laveen, Arizona has always been all about animals. Originally, the settlement was a great place for dairy cows and farmers to thrive. The completion of the Hoover Dam made their lives, and the local industry, even better. Soon, feed stores, grain silos, and other beneficial establishments turned the settlement into a town.
The dairy industry was so prominent here that, back in the 1930s, a handful of Laveen housewives formed a group called the Laveen Cowbelles. Their primary objective was to promote the dairy and beef industries in their local community. You can learn more about them while you're exploring the heart of Laveen.
Laveen's love of animals is still very evident today, given that it has four vet offices even though it is a small town. It also has places to create your own adventures. Explore Caesar Chavez Park, where you can teach your dog how to skateboard, or just walk the trails. Of course, this is a public park, so your pup must stay leashed. There are restrooms and running water here, so just bring a water dish with you.
Trailside Point Park is more of a family-friendly destination. There are lots of shaded picnic areas, ball parks, and playgrounds. All around the park are paved walkways for you to explore with your pup. There is also a large field where you can play tag or fetch. The park allows dogs to play in the ball fields off-leash as long as there are no games scheduled and your dog responds well to voice commands.
